If yours isn't here, the Discord and the mailbox are both on the support page — and an answer there usually turns into an entry here.

Getting started

Do I need to know markdown?
No. There's a normal editor with a toolbar, and it looks like what you'd expect. Markdown is just what it saves to — which is why your writing stays plain text you can read, search, and take somewhere else.
Do I have to use the command line?
No, and most people never will. The web app is the whole product. The desktop app and CLI are there if you want the files on your own machine, or want local tools working on them.
Can I bring what I've already written?
Yes. There are dedicated importers for Notion exports, Obsidian vaults, Google Docs, Homebrewery brews, and CSV tables, plus drag-and-drop for markdown files and folders and paste for anything else. Formatting, images, and folder structure come across rather than arriving as one flat wall of text.
Is this a virtual tabletop?
No. It doesn't roll dice or push tokens around a screen. It's for the prep, and for the game you play in person. If you also run games online, your VTT keeps doing that job.
Which game does it know about?
The 5e SRD is built in, so monsters, spells, and items are there to reference without importing them. Nothing stops you writing for another system — the prep, printing, and sharing don't care what you're running — but the built-in reference library is 5e for now.

At the table

What can my players see?
Only what you mark for them. Player-facing pages get a link that works on any phone at the table. Pages you keep for yourself aren't served on that side at all — not hidden with a warning, not served.
Do my players need an account?
No. A share link opens for anyone who has it, with no sign-in and no app to install. It's a normal web page on a phone browser.
What does printing actually give me?
Pages composed for paper rather than a screenshot of a website: session packets that break across pages sensibly, battle maps tiled to scale across several sheets so a grid square is a grid square, and cards and tokens sized to fit what you're putting them in.

Your files

I already keep everything in a notes app. Why move?
You don't have to give up how you write. You can sync a real folder to your own disk and keep using your own editor. What you get on top is the part that's hard to bolt on: output built for paper, maps that tile to scale, cards that fit their box, and a session view that tells you what's still thin.
What happens to my writing if I stop paying, or leave?
It's markdown, and it stays markdown. The desktop app syncs your campaign to a real folder on your own disk, so the copy on your machine is a plain folder of files you can open in any editor with or without us.
Can I undo something I broke last week?
Every save is kept as a version you can look at and roll back to. How far back that reaches depends on your plan — a week on Free, ninety days on DM.
I'm losing the email I signed up with. Can I move my campaign?
Yes, while you can still sign in. Settings has a hand-off: it gives you a one-time code, the other account enters it, and the campaign moves across with your handle, so the links you've already given your players keep working. The account receiving it must be on a plan that fits the campaign, and whatever it was holding before goes to its trash for seven days. Do it before you lose the sign-in — once the account is gone there's nothing left to prove it was yours, and that becomes a support conversation we can't always resolve.
Another GM is taking over my campaign. Can I hand it to them?
Yes — the same hand-off. They get the campaign, you keep your account and can start something new in it. If you were paying, the subscription switches to cancel at renewal rather than stopping dead, so you keep the paid features for the rest of the period you've bought, and you can turn renewal back on from billing if you're staying. Your handle goes with the campaign unless you say otherwise, and the command line will need a fresh login.

Plans and billing

What does it cost?
There's a free plan that's enough to run a campaign: one campaign, 500 files, 250 MB of storage, and a week of version history. The paid DM plan lifts the limits — unlimited campaigns, 10 GB, and 90 days of history.
Do I need a card to start?
No. The free plan doesn't ask for one, and it isn't a trial that expires — it's a plan you can run a whole campaign on.
Can I cancel whenever?
Yes, from the billing page in your account, and you keep the paid features until the period you've already paid for runs out. Nothing is deleted when a subscription ends.
Where can I use it?
The United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand for now. More regions once we've done the privacy work properly rather than pretending we have.

Your next session is on Thursday.

Start free. Your writing stays plain markdown you can take with you.
